Who is he?
Michel Smith holds a Master’s Degree in Composition from the University of Montreal. For the past twenty-five years, he has been practising electroacoustics, orchestration, sound staging and show design; he often develops his own instruments in order to achieve unusual sounds.

He works regularly with well-known theatre directors such as André Brassard, René-Daniel Dubois, Robert Lepage, Alice Ronfard, Lorraine Pintal, René-Richard Cyr and Serge Denoncourt.
Among his recent productions are Norman et La tempête with Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon; Le fou de Dieu by Stéphane Brulotte, directed by Marc Béland (Il va sans dire, 2008); La petite pièce en haut de l’escalier by Carole Fréchette, directed by Lorraine Pintal (TNM, 2008); Corteo (le Cirque du soleil, 2005); La robe de mariée de Gisèle Schmidt, a creation by Julie Vincent (PAP, 2006; Montevideo, 2007).
